Flying back to Ireland from Poland soon and just wondering what is the maximum amount of cigarettes and alcohol (spirits) one can bring back from an eu country, for personal consumption?

Want to stock up for the first few weeks of college?

Arent liquids banned on all Irish/UK flights now? When i went to Glasgow, you couldnt carry more than 100ml of liquid iirc (and it had to be in a 100ml container, Id a can of lynx, the original container size was 330ml but 90% empty, took it off as the container size matters just as much)

On this subject, how reliable/costly is posting fags back by recorded delivery? Going to Prague for the match on Set 12th and staying 5 days, might bring the max allowed on the plane and post the same amount back :) (dont even smoke the cigs but sure id make a bomb knockin out 20s at 3 quid a pack, he who dares Rodders my son :D )

Whats the general level of Engish amon bar staff/restaurent staff etc? Ive a feeing ill get mad confused/rippd off payin their 4 figure sum currency :(

Poland is part of the EU, so you can bring back (in theory anyway) as much as you like, so long as it's for personal consumption. Keep in mind your luggage restrictions though and the fact that the throwers in Dublin (and probably in Poland too) won't care too much about the fragility of the contents of your case.

If you want to carry it on, you will have to buy it in the Airport, where, if Krakow is anything to go by, you'll pay more than you would in a supermarket.

As for Shane, what you're suggesting is illegal, and while you probably won't be caught, you could be.

If Ireland has the same system as the UK you can only bring back 200 cigs from certain countries (i.e. 'cheap' countries), even if they are duty paid and for personal consumption.

Yes the cheap EU countries CZECH REPUBLIC, BULGARIA, HUNGARY, LATVIA, LITHUANIA, POLAND, ROMANIA, SLOVAKIA, SLOVENIA, ESTONIA are 200 cigs, this is another case like VRT of how good the EU is in allowing Ireland to ignore the free market within the EU. Next time anything comes my way EU related to vote for it will be getting a swift No vote...

Don't do that. I'm surprised I have to mention this but please have a look at the charter...
What is the forum not intended for?
    .
    .
*Finding out how to bypass customs, defraud insurance companies - basically, anything that isn't above board and legal.
