House/Office Alarm features

I am getting an alarm for my office; 2 doors, 3 windows. I am getting contacts for the doors & inertias for the windows and doors, as well as PIRs. The alarm is to ring 3 numbers, me & 2 others, but not a monitoring service (e.g. Eircom). Wired or wireless will depend on price.

I was wondering what other features I should be looking for in an alarm, or useful features that people like. For example, user functions.

I have heard of alarm systems available in the UK that can also send a text to your mobile if the alarm is triggered. Not sure if this is available over here but it's something I am going to look into.

The HKC secure watch system, with a dialler, will do all that for for.
