chips look a little unhealthy.. not yellow enough to me.. they seem to have a green tinge or something (could be my monitor..but.)

Very Marks and Spencers.;) The lighting is great and the detail on that cool can of coke is just asking to be drunk.

Technically, I'm bothered by what appears to be both a lack of sharpness and yet it looks oversharpened at the same time. Not quite sure what's going on there... I like the detail like the condensation on the can - that's the only indication of any of it being hot or cold though, and that's the main thing that stops it from really standing out - the food looks stone cold. Not sure how you would give a sense of heat without resorting to dry ice though ;)

Why did you choose a black background, out of interest?

Nice shot. I prefere more white chips, they at leat look like they were made in fresh oil.
Maybe to peel the lemon's side to see it bright and sparkling.
I love the lighting, but the lemon (again) looks a little without information in it's white parts. What about to spray the lemon a little with water?
However it is wonderful picture. It makes me hungry and also it makes me think where are all the reflections I would have there!!! :-)

OK i do have another version but i looks a touch over sharpend on the food and plate and the can looks perfect?

The food was piping hot, It was my lunch but i chose black to see if i could get the steam /heat effect! it did not work but i am unsure of what to use to get this effect.

The reason for the shot is a challenge on DPChallenge.com

    Ah now I'm hungry!

On technical notes - I'd agree to turn the lemon around - it looks dry. I'd also get rid of the distracting reflections. Looks good though!

To get a really good shot of food, never shoot a food! Use plastic ships or cold ones. It is for picture, not for eating purposes.
There is one reflection I can't understand - the left bottom part of the plate reflection.
Have you already tried to place it on the glass which is above some dark surface? Using a polarized filter? :-)

if i was commisoned for a food shot i would invest in plastic food. more scop for shooting.
the reflection is the fish overhang.
Nice idea for a set up though i might try that at some point.

The sharpness is a bit odd alright - I'd have put a bit of oil on the chips to make them look that bit fresher too :)

Nice shot though, could be a career in it ;)

I wish it was a career, I would give up my job in a heart beat. still the ultimate aim is to be a full time pro.

All you need now is Dervla Kirwan rubbing herself in Olive Oil describing eating the chips in the most inappropriate way possible........:D

Good work fella. It's hard to photie stuff like that and make it look good.

    My 2 cents:

The tomato sauce looks a bit like a brain - I'd have gone for the big dollop with a slight quif in the center look.

Cut the lemon a little off center so you get a wedge with no white pith on the edge. Also, maybe spay with a little mist of water so you get a drop or two on it.

It might have been worth cracking open that fish and giving us a look at the white flesh.

I can well believe that each crumb would be placed.
