Just back from a day at the races up at the Curragh, and I'm feckn ragin'. Went up with a few of the lads for a laugh, no real interest in the horses.

Anyway - there was me standing around looking bored and some auld lad comes up to me with a tip for the 4th race. He was a bit tipsy but said something along the lines of "10 on 9 to win, trust me". The horse had a weird sounding Irish name.

So, I decide to ignore the advice and wander on.

10 mins later I find out the horse won at 25/1, and I would have won 220eur for my measly tenner. Alot of airigd for a student.

    Still kicking myself.

So word to the wise, listen to people (even if they're drunk they're still talking sense).

    Ah well.

    Hmm. A student that can't add. 10 euro at 25/1 returns 260 euro. :D

I wouldn't feel to bad. The exact same thing happened to me, old man approaches with a 100% safe long odds bet. I spent my car loan on a 20/1 bet and I lost it all. I went mad for a month and have been on antidepressants for the last 3 years since.

    Student!!! at the races!!!!

Shouldn't you have been lying in a dingy bedsit on a p1ss stained mattress with your fellow academics, discussing how to dissect the political fallout from the American invasion of Iraq/Grenada/Bosnia/Vietnam/Korea?

    NO?
