Gardaí and volunteers are this week scouring the city centre and local waterways for a woman who disappeared in the early hours of Tuesday.

Bridget Hickey (26) was last seen in Dominick Street at around 3.30am on Tuesday. She was reported missing shortly after this, and members of her family have travelled to Galway from her native Tipperary to participate in the search.

Ms Hickey is five feet 10 inches tall, of thin build, with long brown hair which she normally wears tied up. She also wears glasses.

Gardaí have been examining CCTV from the Dominick Street area in a bid to trace the missing woman’s movements. Gardaí have appealed to anyone who has seen Ms Hickey to immediately contact Galway Garda Station at (091) 538000.
