I've decided to treat myself to a new camera- mostly I guess to capture a few trips coming up, partly very much as a treat , after long weeks earning a buck.

i've read hours of reviews etc but am now getting confused.

so any advice?

was also thinking of getting from pixmania

i guess i'm looking for a compact one, but i've liked the idea of some10x optical zoom (i like church architecture etc-would be useful) but am open to any suggestions

finepix seems to be what i like mostly when i look at reviews

genuinely would appreciate any help. heading to london and egypt soon and sappy i know but like sharing it as much as i can with my mum who can't travel

Compacts with 10x optical:
kodak v610
panasonic lumix tz3 or tz2

was seriously considering getting the v610 a few months ago, just because its so small and general photo quality looked okay to me, video quality is meant to be very good

i have a panasonic camera(not the above models), it aint perfect but has a lot of nice features, was good value, good video quality too

canon compacts are usually very good quality, give great photos
