Anyone else seen this since it was shown in the US on Friday nite. Awful stuff.Expected better after SCFI's Battlestar Galactica remake. Fot starters the lead actor playing Flash is all wrong ,Justin Hartley(the green Arrow in smallville) would be perfect for such a TV role.

Usually they spend loads on Special effect in Pilots but this looks like something down in the early 1990's. While theres nothing wrong with the following shows( Sliders,X files &Smallville) the writers/producers seem to have borrowed everything from them and after watching the 1980's flash film just once they came up with a pilot. As its shot in Vancouver to safe money (ala Stargate SG1)every second shot will have forest scenery in it even on d alien home planet. I read somewhere there even using old Star Gate sets . While Star gate do it on the cheap,atleast they managed to have good storylines any time I watched it. Apparently they have commisioned 22 episodes. If they just did 16 and put more money into it and a better team behind it we mite have been on to a winner. To think they got ride of Aquaman after the Pilot(which had great special effects ,lead actor and supporting cast) show how crazy american tv is.

To add insult to injury ming looks like an average joe so. It all very well departing from central characters original looks (BSG's Starbuck etc) in this case it a disgrace. All this means is a cancelled show before christmas and the only chance we will see Flash Gordon will be on the Big Screen in the next 5 years. Scfi should be sued for this awful trash!!

Haven't seen it but reviews in the States have not been kind.

ye i have to say ming was a not what i expected at all but its a pilot maybe different actor

Very meh for me.
I dunno what it was but it just didn't grab me like some of the other new shows have done.

Where was mings facial hair!? (tbh where was ming, this guy just didnt seem evil enough).

I'll prorbably try another episode or two but i really hope it gets a bit better but i'm not hoping for much.

I dunno... I thought Flash and Dale were pretty well cast... everyone else left a lot to be desired.

Ming looked like Gary Cole... I kept expecting him to ask for the TPS reports.
His right hand man looked like David Walliams.
And Zarkoff is just a bit of a nutball.

Aura seemed pretty good though.

I didn't think the storyline was all that bad either... but they really should have been trapped on Mongo by the end of the episode... It's going to get real dull portal hoping backwards and forwards every episode.

But it really is cheap looking... perhaps in some sort of bizarre homage to the original serials. But Mongo just being Vancouver with an orange filter over the camera lens is supremely naff.

I think I might still give it a chance and see where it's going in the next few episodes.

I saw it. It is very different to any previous Flash. I will reserve judgement until I have seen a few more episodes. The "Imex" made me laugh.
Rocket ships gone, replaced by "dimensional rifts".
"fu-manchu" Ming gone, replaced by blonde guy in military attire.
Mongo doesn't seem to have the big plasticine lizards anymore.
Zarkov is a nerdy 30 something in a camping van.
Flash's mom seems to be played by Lauren Graham (Gilmore Girls), but I can't find a credit anywhere to prove this, so she may be just an actress who looks incredibly similar to Lauren.

defo not Laura Graham..maybe @2 am in Coppers on a Monday nite! Awful stuff..cant see it getting any better ..for god sake VIP with Pamela Anderson was better

Yeah you're right, now that I've compared a few pics of Lauren with the wan in FG. Tis a while since I watched Gilmore Girls so I wasn't sure and was half asleep the time I was watching Flash.
VIP had more charm in one areola than this rendition of Flash Gordon, but TBH, I'll probably still watch it again a few more times out of morbid curiosity or something before condemning it outright.
