Employment Agencies are often derided or put down here, so if they don't work what other way is there to go about getting a general office/admin. job? I dropped out of College 2 years ago (2nd Arts), what do most people who don't finish do? Anyone have any experience?

Agencies are quite good for admin jobs.

You can try the temping agencies, e.g www.tempjobs.ie

Have you had any experience with them? Has anyone? It's often said you shouldn't bother with them?

I have first hand experience with them :)

For office jobs they are great. Most of the anti-agency rants would be directed at things like IT recruiters. They are quite awful at that stuff.

Ditto here. I spent 10 months working for La Creme. They were decent and kept me in nearly fulltime work for that period.

Go into www.jobs.ie or www.irishjobs.ie and choose the admin/secretarial category. I dropped out of college after failing second arts - went temping for Cork City Council.
