    Hi All,

I know i probably should join the forum over at blue face, but i was wondering if anyone would be able to give me a quick answer...

Does anyone have an experience of putting more than one SIP clients behind a Network address Translator?? it seems to work fine with one user, but do some of the clients need to be re-configured to use different ports ect...

Not really sure what yr trying to do. Some ata's have two ports which will allow 2 phones configured differently.
I suspect yr using a soft phone client/clients, and each of them should have their own instructions for setting up.

However, if what you want multiple accounts that ring the same number and to ring out using a choice of provider, you might want to look at sipswitch from blueface, which does all the config before it hits your phone. Sorry i guess my original post wasn't too clear...

We've a small office an have a number of PCs behind a NAT and we seem to be running into issues if more than one person opens up their soft-phone....

I don't have much experience with the SIP protocol, so don't have a good idea of the effect of the NAT....

I'm going to join the blue face forum later on... thanks..

You can have more than one user name on each account with blueface, each device needs an unique user name.

You can set this up using the sip tab on the PBX gui on the blueface site, then setup the way they ring using the forwards tab, ie all ring or one rings if another is engaged ect.

ISTR reading that it is difficult to support more than one SIP phone behind a basic NAT router. Maybe changing the ports might help, say first phone on 5060, next on 5061, etc. That might not work if they all use the same account.

Or, get a SIP aware NAT router.
I think the newer Linux distros are able to do SIP aware NAT.

Siproxd, OpenSER, Asterisk/Trixbox actually on the Router/Firewall. See Clarkconnect.

SIP was designed without NAT in mind, basically there a loads of tricks, but SIP really doesn't work 100% over NAT

Just use a STUN server to get around NAT problems.

    Cheers, Des.
