Curragh Sunday

Rain's being falling since yesterday afternoon - official going yesterday was yielding, but I expect the going to change at least to soft and possibly heavy.

Phoenix Stakes is the main race and my pick for next year's 2000 guineas is running - henrythenavigator. - Currently 8/1 for 2000 guineas, if he wins this well the odds will move down further. "Listen" (related to henrythenavigator) is running in 5.15 and is currently 14/1 for 1000 guineas - again a good win will see these odds fall. A €20 ante post double on these 2 for 1000 & 2000 guineas would give a payout of €2700!!! - and that could be the summer holiday paid for!!!:)

Anyway tomorrows racing - could be difficult becasue fo ground conditions, so all picks are on form and suited by soft / heavy ground.

2.15 - nothing worth looking at

2.45 - DECADO is prefered over Eagle Mountain due to ground. Eagle Mountain just doesn't seem suited by soft/heavy conditions, whilst Decao will relish it.

    3.15 - Nothing

3.45 - HENRYTHENAVIGATOR - brilliant horse and I'll be very surprised if he loses. Only problem is he'll be very short odds on so not worth betting on. - Unless part of an accumulator

4.15 - EVENING TIME - ran exceptionally well in leopardstown 2 weeks ago in soft conditions. Loves the mud but will be a very short price.

4.45 - KILLER LOOKS - There are quite a few horses on form in this and I just fancy this above the others. Small each way as it's really anybodys race.

5.15 - LISTEN - related to henry above, ran a cracker on debut here in June in listed company. Is 2nd favourite for 1000 guineas next year. Seems to like the give in the ground. - Just watch markets for SHARLEEZ. Oxx's yard like this horse a lot and it may be worth a small e.w. if its at about 8/1. - or reverse forcast with Listen!

5.45 - TABACO / EARL OF SANDYMOUNT - both good horse with some good recent form on soft ground. Earl will probably start favourite at about 3/1, but I will plump for TABACO at about 8/1 who is improving well and may shade this.

Not too important but Listen is a sister to the dam of Henrythenavigator, so she's more like his aunt.

    Good luck with your picks!

Tks - I misread the line - info corrected.

LISTEN - "sister to 2 winners inc 2yo 7f Moyglare Stud Stakes winner,
Sequoyah (dam of 2007 Coventry Stakes winner, Henrythenavigator) and half-sister to
very useful 6f winner, Oyster Catcher (by Bluebird): dam French 8f winner, is sister to
the dam of Saffron Walden & Dolphin Street"

Quartino in the 5:45 tomorrow might be worth a look.

Listren has a great pedigree and won a nice liested contest first time out. Ballydoyle think a lot of her apparently and softish ground won't worry her being a daughter of saddlers wells. Decent race.

Hopefully henrythenavigator will win pulling a cart to confirm he's a superstar. The game needs superstars.

A lot of rain on the track Saturday evening so I'd expect if will be very soft/heavy going Sunday.

Going changed to heavy about an hour ago. Think I'll leave this meeting alone and just enjoy watching Henrythenavigator to see if he's as good as I think he is.

Henry hated the ground there. Never travelled or looked anyway happy. Certainly wouldn't give up on him yet.

Couldn't attend, but was on the phone to friends I gave the tickets to - the ground is in ****e condition. - Best not to place further bets as you won't get any true running if its as bad as seems.

At least with Henrythenavigator the price was too short to put money on.

Nearly lost the shirt off my back at the curragh... guess t'was the ground that really made it impossible for me to not get a single winner!! :(:(

Shouldn't have touched it & just watched... At least I had Limerick backed though at 10/3.... saved me some bitta money! ;)
