Query about Setanta and non Sky Box

First off, this is not a post about piracy or cheating.

As we know, the dragon cam can decode a legitimate Sky card. I believe though that one needs access to a Sky box as the card "needs to call home" every now and again.

Since you don't need a Sky contract for Setanta, and therefore it shan't be calling home, what do you guys think of using the Dragoncam and the Setanta Sports card together instead of installing another box under my alreadyover crowded tv!

Mods, if you feel this may be crossing some line, feel free to edit, delete or lock the post. I don't think i am but........

Dont think its a matter of "calling home" as the updates come via the satellite so i guess the question is can they authorise the card via a dragon cam and how long would an update last.

I was never able to get an FTV card to stay alive in a dragon cam. It always had to sit overnight in the sky box every 2 months or so.

I have had success on a dreambox & CcCam.. but that was using a very flexible receiver, soft-cam and one of the built-in card slots.

So if you're stuck with a dragon and standard receiver, I think you will have to put up with the occasional sleepover in Uncle Rupee's box.

I wonder do they need to authorise the card? (thats what I meant by calling home, just could not think of the words!!) Maybe the card come pre-authorised... If that was the case, then I suppose it could be happy days.

If not, well then that should not be too much of a problem.

Maybe though it might be worth putting up with the hassle of another box under the tv... Anyone wanna sell me a very cheap digibox??????

Cards need to be authorised. However, many resellers have the cards already activated.
