Is it possible to get the card-only Setanta sub in Ireland, or is it UK-only? Do you pay them directly or via Sky if you have it piggybacking a Sky sub?

You can get it on its own in Ireland too.

After 25 minutes, three trips to get his line manager and two times of entering my details, they've got a card on its way out to me. Apparently not many people do it, even though Mr Setanta is always saying "you don't have to subscribe to Sky to get Setanta"

He initially told me to go get a Freesat card in Woolworths (?); then after saying he could sent one out told me that I could get "Sky's subcription-free service". Not in Ireland, matey :D

It'll be interesting to see what the EPG line up on the Setanta card will be - UK or ROI.

Also interesting to see that Sky are issuing cards for essentially a non-Sky service. Leaves open the possibility, however slim, of an Irish FTV "Freesat from RTÉ/Sky" service.

The adult channels did issue their own cards. You did not need to be a sky subscriber for the likes of the adult channel and TVX. AFAIR the cards were UK epg (London) and C5 worked ok. You did need to call back TVX for card activation.

I'll be Really Rather Pleased if it happens to be an FTV card... however I don't see how they could issue it with the Irish setanta lineup (no bluescreening of events)

During the time there were no FTV cards on sale the only way to get one was to subscribe to the now-gone "Pout" softcore channel on Sky for their 7 day trial (£30 activation fee I believe, even for the trial). I know someone who has one still....

Yeah, that's true. I'd imagine there'll be no five, etc. unless they send you a UK card, which of course won't have Setanta Ireland.

It could eaisly have a UK lineup though, oh well, we'll see soon.

Now hopefully it gets here before my mate gets back from holidays (its his card I have borrowed atm).

Came there now, have it in the bosca to "wake up"

BBC1/2/ITV1 on the first three but 104/105/108 (4/5/Sky3) are missing - not even on the EPG.

A standard Irish Sky viewing card will also list BBC1/2/ITV before it's activated.

I am interested to see how this turns out. Contemplating a Setanta subscription myself for the bedroom but don't want a Sky subscription.

auth came through just before I went to the pub - about 10:30. Working fine, card went to normal Irish mode - well, not quite, I don't even get Sky Three free! Its as you'd expect with a lapsed Irish sub, except with the Setanta channels.

I did have to call Setanta and get the card paired to the box, and the guy on the phone had to go check with a supervisor to see what to do (again).

All sorted in a week. Do you pay with direct debit or credit card?

    Mastercard.

Trying to order via their website and nothing happens when I click on the next button after I enter credit card information. Tried it with another browser and the same. Just me?
