Just noticed a lump undr my left nipple, very scared because I don't know what to make out of it and want to get to checked out as soon as possible. I'm a 22 year old male living in Dublin for the first time and don't know who I should go to to get this checked out - can anyone recommend a doctor on the Southside or does anyone have any experiences with being in a similiar situation.

    Would appreciate any responses

A lot of lumps are benign, but it is best to have it checked out. Few people appreciate that men suffer from breast cancer also. I suspect at your age cancer is rather unlikely, but anything is possible.

Just find a local GP and get an appointment. If the doctor has any concerns, you will be passed onto a specialist. It is unlikely that any specialist will see you without a referral from a doctor. Just check in the Golden Pages for local GPs - http://www.goldenpages.ie/search/dublin/doctor.html

Could be the best €50 you ever spent.

Get it checked pronto...My mother was recently diagnosed with breast cancer, luckly it was caught very very early...she is very preventative in this regard. Best to get it checked, and if you are not happy get it checked again...at the end of the day its only €50.

Ditto what the Joker said. Go to the doc today don't waste time thinking about it just go to your doc. See what he says but I would push for a referral to a specialist. They will be able to do more tests than your GP. Also it was on the radio this morning that there's a study out which suggests that MRI's are better at picking up these things than mammographs. So if you're still concerned see if you could be referred for one.

Don't take chances with these things! I've had two Grandmothers with breast cancer. One survived one didn't. The one thing that people will tell you that early detection is vital! I know you're a guy but guys can get breast cancer too!

If you don't have a doc take a look in the Golden pages. My doc is in the Suffolk St surgery (funnily enough it's actually on Suffolk St). They're very nice and always have appointments.

Hi, Defo go and get it checked out (the earlier the better).
It's possible it could be something like gynecomastia which is a non-threatening condition where excess breast tissue is produced behind the nipples in men.
    Best of luck.

get it checked out. your gp will refer you to a specialist (as in my case) i went to drogheda breast clinic - everything is tested on the day - mammogram, ultrasound etc and you get result there and then

    best of luck

    Go to the doc,

Given your male it may be an ingrown hair
    or sebatious cyst(bolcked oil gland)
I had the cyst in the side of my head but my gp told me
they can occour anywhere hair grow's.

    Good luck.
