I've recently switched to digiweb metro for BB, they charge 15 euro a month for the phone service but blueface only ask for a tenner for basic service (which is all I require), I have a standard Northern Telecom phone. If I were to use Blueface do I just plug the phone into the back of my Thompson digiweb router using an ATA?

You just put a VoIP ATA between the Digiweb modem and your standard phone.
A basic model would be got from Ebay s/hand, e.g.
    http://cgi.ebay.ie/Netgear-TA612V-Broadband-ATA-Router-2-Phone-ports_W0QQitemZ120149300957QQihZ002QQcategoryZ61841QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

The internet from the Digiweb modem goes first to the ATA Internet input via Ethernet cable. Inside the ATA the internet is shared between the phone(s) and the internet to your PC - which comes via an ethernet output from the ATA direct to the back of your PC.
The ATA naturally needs a power supply lead also, which is supplied with it.

Good savings to be made, you'll pay off the ATA cost in a few months.

Watch for problems with wireless braodband for a VoIP service. Apparently a thing called 'packet loss' impacts greatly on it. Better to go with a landline from Eircom/resellers or with NTL. You can get a separate ATA for each (DSL/Cable).

You can share ethernet from the ATA

Total bull****. I've had no problems with it. Same story with many others.
Your experience - if this is really based on experience - must have been with Irish B/band.
