Hi lads! I am non-EU professional..so I am not aware of many specific behaviour in Ireland.
Could you tell me please is here a good practice to ask from a candidate for a "proof of qualification"?
    regards ZDRAGON

Never been asked for any of them.. I know a couple of people that were asked for their degree certs after an offer had been made.

I've had it happen before where I was offered the job and asked to provide the certs for the exams I'd said I'd passed in my CV.

Yep, I had to send in a copy of my qualification to a new job before.
I didnt have any problem with being asked!

I had to bring the original certs for my degrees in when I was offered my last job -my Ma wasn't too impressed - she had one of them framed and hanging on her wall:D

Two questions: what profession, and where are you from?

I ask as there's a rocket scientist (he has certs, etc, really intelligent) cleaning the floors, as his qualifications mean nothing in this country.

That not really relevant. If he was going for a job as a rocket scientist he'd be asked for his qualifications. If he's going for a job as a floor cleaner he won't really need any certs.

Personally I think every employer should do this. The amount of spoofing on CVs is watering down the value of degrees / masters / etc.

I had to prove I got what I got in my Leaving Cert (but not my degree) for a graduate job.

I had to provide poof of every qualification listed on my cv for public sector job. Presume this is standard.
I have never been asked for proof for private sector jobs....

You'd be mad not to ask, and check it up too. Both by checking the issuing body and also by some practical tests.
