Buy an ATA from digidave.co.uk and use your normal dect / ordinary phone.

Seconded for an ATA. There are plenty on eBay. Have a look for Sipura. I got one last year that can take two phones with different providers. I use one for Blueface and the other one for Voipdiscount.

The one I bought and it's been on for over a year now was one similar to this
    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Sipura-SPA-3000-FXS-FXO-Analog-Telephone-Adaptor_W0QQitemZ180145828260QQihZ008QQcategoryZ61841QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
I didn't buy from this seller. I can't remember my seller and it's gone from my history. Can't really recommend a price either. Have a look at the ones from Digidave and Blueface and see if you're saving a lot by going with eBay.

It's easy enough to setup. Plug it into your network. Browse to it using IE and enter the settings. Blueface are actually very good on the support side. I've emailed them twice and had replies within an hour or two. However if you're unsure or if you want peace of mind then buy from Blueface or somebody local. That way you won't have far to go if you do have problems. It is pricier but they're not too expensive.

As to duty the worst I've ever gotten from Fedex was a bill for the tax after they've delivered the item but generally most stuff (95% and we get loads) comes without a bill.

If you do buy off eBay make sure it comes with a UK power plug. You don't want to be messing about with voltage adapters or adapters for a US - Irish shaped plug.
