    Hi,

Can anyone shed any light on this scenario?

I know a lady who is recently divorced, as part of the divorce deal she will receive a one off payment to enable her to buy a property (the ex gets the old house).

The old house was in both of their names so my question is....

Will she be required to pay stamp duty on her new house as it is her second purchase?

Or, as a divorcee will she qualify as a first time buyer therefore not have to pay any stamp duty?

    Thanks for you help.
