Everybody I ask about how to reclaim emergency tax seems to give me different answers, but this p45 yoke has been brought up in many of the answers... where do I get it though? I dont particularly want to go back to my old employer to get if thats the case, or can the tax office send it out to you if requested?

    Cheers for any help :)

Your former employer. They are legally required to supply you with one and should have done so when you left. Alternatively you could ask for the tax office to re-issue a cert of tax credits. I know you may not want to do it but I'd strongly suggest that you go after your old employer for it as people can't be allowed to get away with not issuing them.

One other piece of advice is to ring your regional tax office and get them to update the employers tax number registered against you. While it sounds like something you shouldn't need to do yourself, I do it every time as otherwise there is a decent chance of you getting landed on emergency tax.
