Anybody know what the rooms 'PENSI' (Pearse, ensuit, single) are like?
    Do they have a kitchen?
The accommodation tcd. page doesn't give much away!
    Cheers!

They might vary, but my friend lived there for a year before. It had what accommodation office would call a kitchen, but what was in reality a tiny box with a hot plate, microwave and toaster (I think) shared between 4 or 6 people. I don't think it had an oven.

The room itself seemed decent though.

Yeah I'll be living in a PENSI too this year. The ones I've been in varied a bit in size, if you're lucky you may get one of the larger rooms. The kitchens all seem the same though, little tiny boxes as myth said, though I do believe they have ovens.

I think the ones above the medical centre (as opposed to the building opposite it by the street itself) are a bit different. I was at a party in one before, and I seem to recall quite a large common room shared among 6 or so rooms.

Hmmm... Anyone know if house 48 is on the pearse st side or medical centre side?

Are things much the same with the GMB rooms?

No totally different. I lived in both, and GMB is way nicer. Pearse Street isn't bad. It's just... uncomfortable.

I'll try and expand on this later when I have a bit of time.

47/48 (west) and 51/52 (east) are the white buildings that are near the medical centre, while 49/50 are the converted older buildings on Pearse St itself (although of course you enter from the medical centre courtyard, up the steps).

Basically the four white buildings are similar layout - 4 single (or occasionally, 2 singles and 1 double) per floor, with a micro-kitchen (micro/combo/grillo oven, 2 rings, 1 fridge (with pointless freezer box), toaster, kettle, sink, cupboards) - note no table or chairs. 49/50 have around seven singles per floor so have bigger kitchens, not sure on the layout there.

I've lived in 48, 52 and 51. They're OK - if you travel on overnight ferries you'll feel right at home ;) . The ensuite is good (nice shower) and the storage space is fantastic (yes, there are cupboards above, below and adjoining your bed) but it is much smaller than GMB, and the kitchens are truly useless.

I was in 48 last year and I'm in 51 this year. What I find about them is the loneliness because there really isn't any communal space unlike most other campus places.

Yeah I must admit I had great craic in goldsmith last year. It's a bit of a dice roll though, I was lucky I got fun people (though maybe not what was required for final year).

Can anyone tell me what the penso apartment single in pearse st is like? In Goldsmith this year it was grand, I'll miss the common area judging by what I've heard of pearse so far
