has anybody recently put in an effualant (sp?) treatment system?

if so, how much did it cost and who did you use. i am looking at a property which requires one and am wondering about cost. the estate agent has said roughly €8,000 but i have heard that it could cost €13,000

    thanks

I wouldnt see why you couldnt have it done for around 5 - 6 grand if its for standard domestic use. Get out the yellow pages and ring around for prices from the different manufacturers/suppliers.

Whatever system you choose just make sure that it has an Agreement cert. Ask that question when you ring for quotes.

Strictly speaking you should have a site assessment carried out first and this could cost anything from 500 to 1000 euro depending on what part of the country you are in. Some of the manufacturers may assist with this. For example: Bord na Mona who manufacture and supply the Puraflo system will arrange an assessment and charge you for it. If you then order their system they knock off the cost of the site assessment. They did do that up to a couple of years ago and I assume that is still the case.

Another thing you could do is ring the local EHO and ask him/her if they would give you a list of approved suppliers of the systems that are used locally.

The waste water treatment system will be supplied and installed for around the figures I give (hopefully). You would be liable for the cost of excavating the ground for the pipework, manholes, wiring etc and the unit itself. The percolation area at most will consist of a sand/soil filter (all depends on your ground conditions) but I cant see why this would cost any more than about a grand.

EHO = Environmental Health Officer or health inspector as they used to be known.

In Donegal most of the popular treatment systems range in price from about €3800 to €5500 for single houses.

8 - 13K sounds a bit expensive. I will be getting one in the next few weeks. Ive had 5 or 6 quotes... the most expensive being just under 5K from O Reilly Oakstown: http://www.oreillyoakstown.com/home.htm They come out and install this with a crane etc included in that price.

You still have to get your wiring and digger work done though as mentioned in the posts above.

The cheaper ones i had quotes on were fibreglass tanks and cost around the 3K mark. Dont seem to be as good a job as the concrete dual tanks though. And most of these dont provide installation - they "supervise" the insulation.. so you have to provide the crane and someone to drive it etc :)

We got the bord na mona one delivered last Friday. The full cost for our one works out at €5,500 including yearly reports which we have to submit to our local council as part of our planning conditions. They do all the work in installing it bar digging out the hole u put it in. Found them very helpful. We had to pay €1,650 up front and the rest will be paid when the do the final installation works (i.e. when house is built) They called back out on the sat evening just to check that everything was ok. :D
