The Tour of Ireland site gives very little info. Ok, it finishes in Dublin. Where? Time? (approx) Would love to go see it but no info other than the stages currently. Is one Dublin paper a sponors or will one in particular have detailed info on the stages?

Hope they update with more info soon!

It unbelievable, what should be a high profile cycling tour is getting so little publicity. Perhaps the organisers are new to the game or the sponsors just want to use up surplus budget. Seems its finishing in Merrion Square at 14.30.
after Leixlip, Lucan, Strawberry Beds. Don't know if it going through Park or not.

    I have sources....

Enters the Phoenix Park between 13:33 and 14:04 depending on conditions. Then straight down the main road, goes right on Conygham Road, then left and around by the Royal Hospital Kilmainham, finds its way by SCR, Dolphin Road, Parnell Road, Harolds Cross, Portabello Bridge, Leeson Bridge to Baggot Street and enters a circuit between 13:48 and 14:22. Does 10 laps.

Finish is outside of Government Buildings between 14:12 and 14:51.

Thanks for that! How can they be so specific with the times though?? How can they predict how fast they wil ride?

Anyway, will be able to wander up for a gander. Yes, something like this needs lots of publicity. Even the Tour Down Under gets smothering coverage!! But then we have some good Aussie Cyclist:rolleyes: . Will be interesting to see who ends up riding TofI. Did see some of the teams listed.

And the Dublin Tri is on the day before too - wanted to volunteer but have a friend flying in late the night before so better not drag her out of bed! Might give it a bash next year, though not sure about swimming in the Liffey!!

    Thanks dudes!

    It's usually a 10% plus or minus on a 40kph average.

I'd say the PR machine will probably get into its stride soon. The event is a mixture of new people and some very experienced old hands. It'll probably be a bit uneven in the first year.

From what I've seen, the field is well-balanced and should produce some good competition.

That's what he said when interviewed at the post-TdF Luxembourg Criterium.

Just did a bit of digging:

Quite a coup for the ToI to have one of the world's top riders. Wonder if the news media outlets have picked this up.

Does anyone know are they actually going to organise and run this like a proper pro tour race i.e. closed roads or are we going to have the ridiculous situation of riders avoiding cars ala RAS?

And now his younger brother Andy (2nd Giro d'Italia), after dropping out of the Deustchland Tour, will be coming too.

Other big names (provisionally) down are T-Mobile pair Michael Rogers (former World ITT Champion and leader) and top sprinter Bernard Eisel. Navigators will have Ciaran Power and Lagutin. Unibet have top class riders in Carrara and Rojano. Uran was down to ride also but he won't be after his awful crash in Germany, where he broke both elbows and his wrist.

    Team List

We had a good spot down near the canal and then wandered up to the finish. Got my piccy taken with Sean Kelly and had a chat to Baden Cooke - gotta support the Aussie lads!
