Ok, I have a feeling this is going to be dominated by one side, but I will still ask anyways.

For the last couple of weeks we were trying out a sticky for talking about regular tournies as opposed to having different threads each day, sometimes a few each day, sometimes even about the same tournies. It is a pain in the hole and a bit messy as well.

On the other hand though It might not be too easy to continue conversations in the sticky thread and not aas many people might look in there.

So, do people want to keep the sticky or go back to the way it was?

How do you want to discuss regular tournies? 17 votes

    Keep the sticky in place!!!

For myself I don't check boards that often and when I check that sticky you have put up, sometimes I would join mid conversation on some topics and would have no idea what people are on about and would have to go back and check the last few pages

    Bring back seperate threads!!!
Personally I don't really mind either way, I voted for leaving the Sticky just for the selfish reason that it's easier to mod this bloody forum when Dom's not around (he's great in here, isn't he... :D) by leaving it as it is.

I know everyone that discusses the tournaments knows the structures, payouts, etc. but some don't and if there's a thread announcing some regular tournament, asking who's going etc. (the post that almost always doesn't abide by the forum rules), it gets annoying and more difficult to police this Forum, e.g. if there's a thread about a €50 tourney in the Jackpot that doesn't follow the charter, and some new poster comes along and gets warned about following the Charter and then thinks we're showing favouritism to the Big Casino's by not making them follow the charter.

But whatever the multitude wants is fine by me.

Friday morning is the nominal decision time I have just decided.

    Bring back seperate threads!!!
    A) Conversations can be maintained in the BB sticky in the main forum - I fail to see how this sticky will ultimately be any less successful;

    B) I suggest that Dom demonstrates how Boards isn't a democracy when Friday comes;

    The sticky is a WINNAR.

    So be it.

(i take it your not that inundated at work on Fridays Dom? :D )

btw MickL said that he would properly post the tourney structure for Luke's new club. i haven't the foggiest.

let me say that again in my Captain Jean Luc Picard voice:

    So Be It. Khan!

Yeah long threads are hard work and seperate threads are just hard work for the mods. Wheres the problem? Mods stop trying to make life easier for yourselves. You're here to work. :p

My only suggestion would be to have a "Jackpot Tournie (white noise) Sticky"

All the white noise tends to comes from their tournaments ....

For a while, up until the new sticky, 4 out of 6 of the recent posts in the tournament section were fish calling fish fishes from jackpot multi-rebuy tournaments, yawn, no need to post this on a public forum.

While some of the respected posters here are regulars in the jackpot, it does not make interesting reading for the rest of us, send a txt instead or a PM, "are you playing tonight" or "that was a sick call you made last night" or else bring it to the "personal issues section", it surly isn't poker.

    Moan over...

i'm not sure exactly what this is referring to,the only regular tourney threads i participate in are the sunday tourney ones, and i would much prefer to keep those separate,i like posting in them while the tournaments are going on and wouldn't want to be wading through a huge thread each time.

If we revert to separate threads can we have a standard thread heading format ? ...... DAY/DATE; LOCATION; TOWN; TOURNAMENT (just as the sticky requires standard information) -

    For example
Sat 01/09/07 | Sporting Emporium | Dublin | €500 NL Hold Em freezeout

I think putting in day and date is important.

I often have no idea when a tournament is on (Carfax  ) without reading through the thread.

why do you read the post once you get the information you want from it. surely it is easier to ignore if its in a seperate thread rather than if its all in one long jumbled sticky?

    bring back the old days!

OK, back to the old way it is. However, this is not just a democratic decision, rather a decision to heed general opinion. If there are too many days when there are 3 or more threads on different tournies, or several on the same tournie, but people didn't bother their hole to check if it existed, then we will go back to the sticky, or maybe a weekly or monthly thread can be set up as a compromise.

I semi agree that most of these threads seem to be by the Jackpoteers (nice word) so if there is too much tidying up around the place needed it will go back. Next time it won't be on a trial basis.

IF there is a next time. It is up to the forum users to make sure that it is used properly.

    so....!?

of the jackpot regulars, fitz regulars, se regulars, there are simply more jackpoteers (i like it) that use the forum regularly. as such there is more jackpot discussion, if this means that a fitz regular has to avoid clicking on a thread called "Jackpot 50 game, who's playing" then so be it. why is he clicking it if he is only gonna get upset by it.

for example... there's a good number of SE regulars who post a good bit (flushdraw, lloyd, bcb, 5star, etc) but there is a large portion of the SE market that dont. equally, there is a greater number of Jackpot regulars (myself, Mr.Plough, ITT-Pat, cooker3, Deamentor, moneymaker, Frink, etc) that do post regularly too. my point is, so what if we dicsuss the game, what happened at the game, and have some banter, and god forbid, build a sort of online community of some description.

if there is a notion to have a jackpot specific sticky, i would like to propose the following:

    a sunday online sticky
    a monday online sticky
    a tuesday online sticky
    a wednesday online sticky
    a thursday online sticky
    a friday online sticky
    a saturday online sticky
a less than 50 euro buy in sticky
a greater than 50 but less than 200 buy in sticky
    a 200+ buy in sticky
a cash game bad beat sticky
    a tournament bad beat sticky
a sticky for users with less than 500 posts (cos they're nooooobs) sticky
a sub forum for users with over 5,000 posts (cos they're super non-noobs)

    /end sarcasometer!

My point that you so abruptly ignored is that if there are 3 threads with titles like:

    1. Where to go tonight?
    2. Who's going to the Jackpot Thursday Gamboooooool
    3. What's happening in the Jackpot tonight?

then it will be the jackpoteers who started them that are responsible for them, and therefore annoying me (or possibly one of the others if they pop their heads in). Obviously this applies to all club tournies, but ideally I would like to see one thread per night, not necessarily one thread per tournie as is happening a lot lately. 3 months or so ago there were maybe a couple of these threads a week, usually stemming from someone asking what was on. Now that the other sticky has eliminated that need those don't happen much anymore. What does happen though is that there are sometimes 10+ threads a week, and it does get a bit messy if some relate to the same day/tournie.

The fact that most of these type of threads are started by the jackpot customers mean that if there is a state reached where the sticky is brought back it will have been largely due to the actions of these as they are in the majority.

thats a very fair point, but what i am not understanding is why, say on a friday, if you can see the following threads

    "jackpot tuesday?"
"jackpot wed, 400 added, anyone playing?"
    "fitz tuesday, 55?"
"thursday the 11th of whatever, who's playing what?"
and say 5 others of the same tone...
say a total of 10 seperate posts, why does this bother someone... if you dont care for what is being said in the "jackpot tuesday" thread, dont click it. surely that has to be a better option that having EVERYONE sift through one continuous thread that contains the same as the above.

while i accept it is slightly different, if we liken it to the main forum, there have been countless "AA on a scary board, 1/2 nlhe" threads, but they have some merit, if i do not wish to read about how to play AA in such and such a situation, i simply choose not to click it. why is it any different in the tournament section.

my point is... i dont see why/how a seperate continuous thread would be beneficial. if its purpose is to make the forum easier to read by having less clutter by virtue of less new posts, then putting ALL that clutter into one on going thread is not the answer.

I had a long post written but then I realised someway I can put it much shorter.

As long as it is not too much hassle or work for me (or to a lesser extent the other lads, but mostly I am selfish) then I don't really care.
