Ok have a bit of a mystery here now.

    What is this ?

    VAX_VMS_V1_Code_1980.jpg

The only information I have is All plates come with VAX VMS v1 printed on top. No longer have the original plate just theis scan but am unable to find out how it was intended to be used in a VAX/VMA system.

    Anyone with some insight.

Maybe plates from a printing press. Perhaps used to print a manual for VMS or something.

My digging around in some friends heads turned up this.

    Microfiche

    Mystery over I think.

I seem to remember VMS dev kits use .LIS extensions.
ACTREF.LIS and ACTSTA.LIS look like a scan of source code to me.

I tried zooming in for a closer look ... but I can't make out the text :(

Anyone know if there are any vax systems in use in Ireland?

We still have a few VAX/Alpha boxes here, still ticking over nearly 20 years later. The functions they perform have been gradually replaced by SAP and the like over the years, but there's a few hanging on.

The DIT in Aungier street has a vax/vms system. Not sure if its still there, but up until a few years back, most of the mail accounts in aungier street where held on the server. We also used it for some cobol programming too.

We did have several VAX in service (the ops guys called them VAXen), some for almost 20 years.
Last one was retired 3 weeks ago. :(
