power issue on new Graphics card

    HI

I just bought a new graphics card, a HIS Radeon x1650, 512mb AGP 8x and when I plugged it into the AGP port, attached power chord (small 4 pin) and powered on machine the graphics card fan started but no signal came out from the monitor...

After looking at the manual I saw a requirement for the card was a 455Wat PSU. I only have a 380watt PSU.

Do you think that could be the problem? Or do graphics cards still power on with a less powerful PSU?

My AGP port is fine as my older graphics card works.

    And advise?

    Regards
    Hertz

If it states you need a 450W psu then it is sometimes best to stick with it. But i dont think that is the problem to be honest. Do you have another spare 4 pin molex cable lying about in your pc? If so try connecting that to the graphics card.

If that also fails try resetting the cmos ( small 1€ sized battery on the motherboard ) Remove it for a few mins, then put it back in and power up as normal.
