My friend and I are going to the usa for a month, we booked one way tickets to new york and several flights around america and the last stop being los angeles were we will travel back to dublin from.

Do you think we will have any problems with visa control seing as it is not a return trip, or should the email showing we are returning from los angeles be ok? Maybe Im just being paranoid..

I got this from lonely planet though

Travellers from Ireland can enter the USA for up to 90 days under a visa-waiver program if they have a round-trip ticket that is nonrefundable in the US, and have a passport valid for at least six months past their scheduled departure date. All other travellers will need a visitor's visa.

Bring the email for the return trip via LA just incase but you should be okay. I wouldn't worry about it.

You dont need to produce your tickets at immegration (spelling). They ask you some general questions about your trip as they are processing your visa and taking fingerprint and photo. Just answer there questions honestly and they'll let you in no bother.

as ruu also added a print of your e-ticket wouldnt go amiss just in case, sure youll need it anyway. If you're flying out of dublin all of your immegration stuff will be done in dub airport.

I flew with Delta from Dublin to Atlanta a few weeks ago. My return flight is in a few weeks with Continental from Newark.

Even before I got to check in, they do a pre-check in the queue for check-in. They check your passport and you must have details of your return flight printed out. It didn't matter that it was with a different airline. Just as long as you have proof of a flight returning before your visa expires you will be fine...

I buy one-way tickets to the USA all the time and fly into one city and out of another.

USA immigration is in Dublin and they never ask you for your flight ticket just your passport and immigration forms.

You might have a slight problem if you decide to go to canada or mexico for a few days like i did. Upon returning they will ask a s**tload of questions e.g why did you fly into Orlando and plan returning from New York etc, however if you stay in the USA you will have no problems.

The green I-94 (that the INS staple onto your passport), fill that out before going through immigration and the white customs form for when you get stateside. Like below.

^^^ yeah those shown above. There is a white one too that you hand in when you get to America. The check-in staff at Dublin airport will give these forms to you when you check in your bags so don't worry. Just be sure to fill them in before you attempt to board the plane or you will be sent to the back of the queue :(

DO NOT GO THROUGH SECURITY AT THE AIRPORT WITHOUT THE GREEN AND WHITE IMMIGRATION FORMS
