    Hi lads,
I am planning to go for a winter holiday around Jan end or Feb.
    My interest is
    1) not interested in sightseeing
    2) want some snowy place in front of a lake/mountain
    3) not too cold (like canada), looking something in EU.
    4) just go, relax, drink, sleep as it is just me and my wife
    5) something closer to ryanair airports would be goood not necessary.

    hope i get some suggestions....

Chamonix? Beautiful beautiful area. Plenty of snow :)
Good choice of restaurants and bars too.

Salzburg? I don't know what it's like in winter, but it's a beautiful city and I'd say it's quite romantic, and it's surrounded by mountains. Anyway, if not in the city, there'd surely be somewhere a short trip away that will have snow that time of year.

got the place for you; Zell am See in Austria. Its about 1 hour from Salzburg by train. Ryanair fly direct to Salzburg (Salzburg isn't that scenic of a city really, no lake and the mountains are miles away).

We stayed in Haus Ashling in Zell (owned by and run by limerickman Eugene O'Carroll). The accommodations are great and the house is located on a hill overlooking the town and the lake.

I second Chamonix, you can basically touch the 16,000 foot Mont Blanc from every corner of this wonderful french town.

    thanks for suggestions...
    other suggestions received from friends:
Lake of Brienz, Rigi/Lake of Lucerne, St. Moritz,Landgasthof Meierei
these are around - french-swizz part of the country.
    need to investigate more here...

I am not looking for skiing or a busy place/hotel.
even a quiet remote village B&B suits more. this will be my first outing with my wife.
we dont want to do sightseeing...travelling around.. would prefer a romantic walk...evening beers..
