    Blind timeframes? Generous

Can you post up the exact blinds to give us an idea if your definition of generous is the same as ours!

And and this isnt a double chance freezeout. This is a rebuy... completely different things.

Sorry that was a typo, the poster is correct.

The starting stack is 12k and if you register early you will receive 1k extra so 13k.

Look, will people who are presumably not going to attend this tournament please stop making sarcastic/negative comments about it please? People have a right to post events, and even if you not think they are well structured events, sarcastic and lol type comments are not constructive. Asking to elaborate on blind structures and the like is obviously fine though.

Edit: Also, to the OP, I have edited the original post to include all relevant details that were incorrect or missing as per subsequent posts. I know you probably did not deliberatly mislead anyone, but posting full details initially is the best way to avoid having to answer further questions.

Is just the reg fee of 10euro being taken for fundraising or will any of the 100buyins or 50 topups be taken for fundraising?

The lol was better than saying LMFAO (hopefully you know what that means) and the comment.

I was trying to be nice in my criticism, I hate how organisers get around telling people how many people have registered, its like they're politician are something. You don’t see Stephen lying about the IPO he come out and says we have 40 people registered, have many more promising players, that the kind of answer your looking for if you are to play a tournament is it not???

[DM] Frink, Whats your problem? They are advertising this tournament as a 10k Est which they are looking to fulfill.

The IPO is a 100K Guaranteed which needs 700 people to be guaranteed. That to me is a is the same thing as what gonzo is saying. Gonzo estimates 10K which would be easily reached if he has 60-75 players.

The IPO only has 40 odd (as you say) which is only 0.6% Registered which is the worse then if Gonzo only has 5 of the 75 runners (need to generate 10K Prizepool) is 6%.

You should realy keep your comments to yourself and stay out of things you know nothing about.

Sorry to Gonzo and Stephen and the others organising the IPO. But it really annoys me when posts like Frinks are posted by idiots. I wish you both every success with your tournaments.

I do not have any anything to do with either tournaments!

Mods: I'm sorry for taking this off topic but it enraged me that I felt I should post

    Ha! Cheers man :)

I was talking about him not revealing how many people had registered, gonzo said that there was just over a hundred registers or promised. Thats not saying how many people are registered!? Wasn't talking about anything else.......wasnt' talking about the tournament structure or the blind, that all looks hunky dorey, I want to know about how many people are registered cause I want to make the trip but aint going if 100 people said they would be there!? That's all......shish

    Hi,

Can I ask any interested players that are prepared to travel to Trim this Sunday to support this event.

As it is a fundraiser and therefore the prime motive behind this event is to raise funds for Trim Celtic FC no player should expect a 100% payout. My guesstimate is that if we get 130 players then there will be a prize fund paid out of 10000 euros. The Club will receive nearly 10000 too so let no potential player be under any illusions. If your the type of player who wants the whole pot every time then you won,t be interested in this game but remember if you think your an above average player then you should consider this game as it will be attended by supporters of the Club who wouldn,t necessary play as much poker as you.The game will be well run and the venue is fantastic, the play of course will be determined by the players :)

    Regards,

    Ken

This got 130 players, worst standard of play i have seen in a long time. Went out in 20ish place after being chip lead earlier on.

8K out of 18k taken for the charity i though this was OTT anyone else think so?

I ran this event for Trim Celtic and will try my best to be devils advocate here:)

The game went fine and started at 5.30pm and a 2 way chop was agreed at 4am.At 12 midnight there were still 50 runners out of the 126 starters so I think there was a reasonable amount of play although I can,t comment on the standard. The only thing I know was that the final 9 players are all "seasoned" poker players so my thinking that cream always comes to the top is vindicated here. The Club guestimated a payout of 10k and actually paid out 10200 euros in cash and for this I applaud them.I don,t honestly know what the payout "should" have been but I think if you asked all the players they would say that they attended this event in the hope of winning some of the guesstimated 10k prize fund and this was achieved.I would like to get a broad based view from boardsters as to the % they think should be paid from income received at these types of events. This event was always advertised as a "Fundraiser" and I think the important point here is that a "Fundraiser" would take place with the primary motive of raising funds for a soccer club or indeed any other organisation. The only thing I can do as an organiser is reccomend to the Club/Organisation the % they should give out in the prize fund.I welcome any comments or suggestions and finally can I thank all those who supported the event.

    Ken

Myself and Connie regularly run fundraising nights. We insist that 20% max be taken out of the prizepool. We also advise the organisers of several other options to raise funds associated with the night. Poker players won't continue to support events that are taking too much out and you're then left with the members/supporters of the organisation concerned to support the event and these people would support any event that was run. By organising a poker night you're obviously trying to attract an audience outside of ths group and to do that you need to make it attractive to them, especially if you want them to return.

    Hi Ken,

I have ran fundraisers in the past for GAA Cluds and football teams.

I have recommend that they take 30%-40% max for the reasons listed above. If they want to take anything more than that i won't advertise it for them either on boards or at my tournament as i don't believe players are getting value for money.

Having said that the last fundraisers that i ran was for GAA Club.
The buy in was €40 with unlimited rebuys at €20 each and a top up for €20.

The club keep 50% of the €40 and 25% of the rebuys.

The prize pool came to €4700 (i think) and i suggested to them to round it up to €5000 (which they did). I would guess 90% of the players were in some way connected to the club and were willing to pay the high % for their club.

Before the game started i made it very clear what was coming out of the pot, two different groups of two players complained and one of those groups didn't play and got a full refund.

Another idea for cluds to generate money on a fundraiser which i advise clubs to do is to get them to get each table sponsored by local business for between €100-€150.

Hope this is of some help.

60/40 split in favour of prizes is about right if the a lot of the target audience isnt involved with the fundraising cause. (charity/club/whatever).
If the majority of the audience is involved with the cause, I would have said 50/50 (in favour of the charity :) ).

I think the main problem with the event was the fact that the football team in question happened to be called TRIM CELTIC.
Which when they planned on running a poker game, they unluckily ended up with the name
    Trim Celtic Poker Classic
on the posters which got everyone off on the backfoot as connections with celtic poker tour appeared. The fact that it was a fundraiser wasn't too obvious, so it looked like another skimmed pot from CPT.
Its very hard to organise value for money in a fundraiser, and the people giving out should remember what they are there for in the first place.

I reckon 30% is a fair % to take out of the prize pool
