The memory sticks they give out free during the i.t induction course. Is it worth going along to get one?

They're pretty much whatever the bog standard size is, so they started off at 64MB but I think they were bigger last yr.

Performance wise I don't know anyone who could actually tell the difference between different USB sticks for everyday use.

Last year they were 256MB. Since they're given out free, I'd say they're worth getting. Mine doesn't work anymore but thats probably cause of the various times I took it out before stopping it.

If you don't have one then yes they are very handy.
If you do have one...why skip getting a free one ;)

What days do they do this on again? I'll be heading in for a few new ones anyway. Keep losing or breaking the ones I got the last two years.

The free USB keys are definitely worth going to the tutorial for- 256mb, it only takes about 15 mins, I even know some people who went more than once to get a few but all USB keys are pretty much the same apart from storage size. And the fact they are foldable is great, just attach them to a set of keys and you'll always have it with you, especially handy if you dont have a laptop or dont want to be lugging it around with you.

anyone else noticed on most of the computers in ucd, that you cant actually stop it, in order to take it out?

not that Im getting worked up about or anything.........just wondering

Yep, I noticed that as well - very bad move IMHO seen as there's not much else on that dialog you could stop. I complained a year ago but it fell on deaf ears.

Best advice is to leave it for about 20 seconds before taking it out, and to close any application (like Word) fully. Never had any corruption or data loss.

The only problem with having it with your keys, is it gets broken very quickly. Or maybe that's just me. Anyway, I agree it's definitely worth it for the free USB key. Think I might get two or three this year, to be on the safe side and it's quite fun going in and pretending you've never used UCDconnect before.

The window system in UCD doesn't require you stop a memory key to take it out. That's only 98 and prior...

The UCD memory keys form a large part of my Memory key collection.. Get several. I've never had ANY problems with any of them. Still have the one I got 4 years ago..., and the 5 I got last year...

Unless of course you happen to be writing something to it at the time or running a program off it.. ;)
