Just thought I'd ask the question does anybody give the mechanic that services your car a tip? I remember just after my leaving cert I worked in a Merc garage for the summer and one or two customers used to come round the back and give the mechanic a few quid £10/£20 the mechanic used to give the car a proper going over and once the service was finished the car was given over to me for a vacum out and wash.

No. Labour rates are more than enough thanks.

How long ago was that ?

I presume it was before the garage started charging €150 p/h labour and the price of a new Flux Capacitor for every part.
