Matt or Glossy?

I'm getting a load of shots printed up from my RTW trip and myself and my boyfriend can't really agree on whether to print them glossy or matt.

Is it purely a personal choice, does it depend on the photo or is one always better than the other?

I prefer glossy since the photos always look sharper, but he prefers matt since it looks, I dunno, like the ink is in the paper rather than sitting on top of it ....

    So what are your thoughts?

In general I prefer matte, but that could be because I associate glossy with people's holiday snapshots!

Matt, but it mas be the propper matt, not jsut glossy paper with some texture. In that case I prefere glossy one.

I've just been printing on proper matte, you know like watercolour paper - and for delicate, pale images it looks fantastic. But if you want nice deep blacks and more contrast and colour, you'd be better off with glossy.

I usually order matt with no borders. Glossy landscapes can look good with white borders.
