Remote connect via Hyperterminal

    Hi there,

I am trying to remote connect via Hyperterminal dialer from my laptop via an onboard modem across a phone line to an OMU (Outstation Monitoring Unit, that has a 56k modem onboard). It can establish connection but as soon as it does, it drops off.

The OMU is just a box, plugged directly into a phone line and uses the modem to connect. I have connected to the OMU before via a serial port but i need to connect remotely to solve problems on it so the modem was put in and i need to connect with that now.

Any idea on how to get them to talk to each other?

What speed is it connecting at? Maybe it's suffering because of some signal strength issue. Is it worth dropping down to the lowest baud and working your way up?
