Internet explorer problem?

Not sure if this is an IE problem or something else but at work I am now unable to access our company online banking account and Revenue Commissioners account(ROS) through IE. On the ROS site message comes up "invalid password"
and on the Bank site "unable to access DIRECTORY/C".Both problems started at the same time so I am fairly sure they have the same cause. The ROS account is accesible via Firefox ( the online banking account dos'nt recognise Firefox)
I have tried the customer support people at both ROS and the bank with no success and have also updated my version of IE to no avail.
Does anyone have any possible solutions? Any help appreciated

I believe that site uses Java. Perhaps there is a compatibility issue. What version of Java have you installed?

The ROS service and bank's business services tend to use certificates installed on the users side to validate that the user is indeed who they claim to be. Since you have changed versions of IE, its possible that these certificates will need to be reinstalled.

Applets may also need to have their security permissions readjusted to allow read/write access to the disk.

Thanks for the replies fellas. The technical support people have already checked the Java application and the Digital Certificates are installed
Aidan how do I check the applets?

    What bank are you with?

My firm are with AIB and I use IBB. After a Java update I could not access online banking, I had to uninstall that version of Java and all was fine after that. It might be worthwhile contacting the bank's technical support line.

John-I have been on to AIB technical support and the Java is ok.They were unable to solve the problem and suggested that my access to Drive C was being restricted but the only applications that are affected are IBB and ROS and i can access ROS via Firefox ok.IBB dos'nt work with Firefox however and therein lies my problem.I feel that something has happened to IE but dont know what
What are applets and how do check them?

    Don't really know, mate.

What version of IE are you using? Is it version 7?

I have a vague recollection of needing Microsoft Java VM for IBB to work (I could be wrong though). I'll check my settings in work tomorrow and revert to you with what I have.

That'll learn ya to read things properly. I jest though. Good to see moderators actually doing their job. Makes this place so much better to browse and post on.
