starting the roof in the next few weeks

i was talking to a relation who put wooden ceilings in his new build because he recons the plaster cracks on normal ceilings when there is a lot of motion upstairs, good idea but i dont want wooden ceilings except in the sunroom

its too late to consider a concrete first floor because the walls are finished

    any other options?

Find me a plasterboard finished ceiling without a crack (and that includes suspended below the conc. slabs) and I will find you the answer to eternal youth :D

    deal!

okay so i am going to get cracks, suppose a good lamp shade will keep the light off it at night time (floresents are a disaster with their 360 light)

What about taping the joints and painting without skimming?

    hi,
I use joint filler on all the plasterboard joints before i skim. Its better to do this just before skimming.
It takes longer and costs more, but it strengthens the joints, especially the ceiling if there's traffic above.
    Stops cracking....most of the time!
