    Hi All,

Having read some of the threads I'm considering buying the panasonic TH-42 PV71F from http://www.technikdirekt.de/main/en/page.html

Thought I'd just post on here to see if anyone has had any problems with the TV or the website. Also does it work well with a laptop and is it easy to wall mount and does it work with NTL.

    any help appreciated,

    thanks

    noob.

no probs with tv or website, bought over 2 months ago.

you can try and get rpice cheaper by using the price match function on their website (they will match german online shops only)

never tried laptop connection, mine on pedestal.

    enjoy.

Yeah, I have this TV also and very happy with it. Mounted on a pedestal but you should be able to wall mount no bother with the right bracket (heavy TV though).

Picture very good over Sky+ digital (RGB scart), has actually improved after 200 hours viewing time. I presume NTL digital will be similar. Some of the lower bitrate Sky channels are a bit flaky up close, but still a lot better than they would be on LCD.

Hooked up to laptop for watching upscaled (1080i) movies via VGA cable, excellent picture quality using plasma native resolution, separate sound cable required (mine is connected to my home cinema amp). Xbox 360 looks great too.

I signed up with www.technikdirekt.de and ordered one. By becoming a member they also dropped the price from 1283 euros to 1211 euros, nice touch.

thanks for the help guys, much appreciated

Good choice, Like Brian I bought it from Technik a few months back and its an excellent TV, also Technik are a good company to deal with, the shipping is excellent as well, it will arrive shrink wrapped on a pallet and the courier company will call you the day before delivering it, let us know if u need any further help as you need to keep brightness/contrast levels low to avoid screen burn issues, but if you threat it right for the first 200 hours, you'll have no major issues with it.

    Hey Paler

    Try this for the manual,http://techdocs.panasonic.co.uk/docs/1z46d4afd0z3z24a33z656ez706466z23z051b7d1f204a1fa96b22776a555d052f3e1c9db9/tsn2/data/EU/TH37PV70EY/OI/773636/TQB0E0377.pdf
Its the same as the 71.
Also read the following thread has some burn in settings, http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=501543&page=1
I based mine on one of the posts
    mode - cinema
    contrast - 30
    brightness- 30
    colour 50
    sharpness - 50
    colour balance - warm
    pnr -off
    colour management- off
    side panel -high
    power save - off

Set the TV to cinema mode and move the contrast back 15 clicks to the left, this should do to avoid screen burn for the first 200 hours, I know its a pain but better to do this now to avoid screen burn. Also put the Dynamic and Normal modes contrasts the same just in case set gets switched to them automatically.

    Snake ;)
