I've been giving the g36 some serious thought and I noticed that Rsov do a conversion kit for one. Is this plus the extended barrel all thats required to go from a g36c to a full g36? Also I was looking at getting scope, should I go the purpose build one here or for a "red dot", and if i do go for a red dot what rails would i need.

i take it after your first time, its addictive mate?

thinkin ill just opt for the m4 from eirsoft to start off with - unlike Gandalf, i cant be spending all my money on POTATO GUNS!!! hehe

The m4 did/does look good but I've been convinced of two things

    1) I need a scope and 2) I'd like to have range. The g36 looks the business but all i can find are compact versions, so a conversion kit seems to be the solution.

    Red dot sights = EBAY:D

Why not stick with just a G36C? it has a rail included. Job done.

My brother has the G36 conversion kit on his JG G36C. It comes with all the parts needed, barrel extension, etc. You don't get any instructions with it but it's easy enough to do the conversion.

That G36 handle/scope on RSOV is a 3x optical not a 1.5X like some. I'd say go for it.

Before I get onto how well the gun performs, I want to clear up a common misconception abut the STAR G36. If you only read one paragraph in the whole review, make it this. The STAR G36 Series does not use a polycarbonate gearbox. It uses a metal, version 3 gearbox.
A quick glance into the magazine well proves this.

    I haven't a clue myself as I don't own one.

Ah, I'd heard their G36 used the plastic gearbox but that proves that's not the case. I stand corrected.

I don't know what this post means. Do you mean it has a rail to attach a scope to so why not just buy a scope?

o1s1n: I could afford that now, but I don't want to spend that type of money on something that would probably be wasted on a newbie, I'll at least wait untill the first time I hop my gun off the ground and it smashs before buying somethign expensive.

Fiach: Good stuff, All I needed to hear was that it wasn't crap.

It's a shame my brother couldn't make it to HRTA yesterday. He'll be there tomorrow with his G36 :(

question: how do you increase the range of an AEG without stepping across the 1joule threshold?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 17,163 ✭✭✭✭Boston

I presume the longer barrel will give you better accuracy over a greater range. Perhaps I should have said effective range.

Get a spring as close to 1j as possible and put the hop up as high as possible (without it flying straight up in the air). A tightbore barrel will also give you a few more feet.

I wouldn't worry about range too much, with the 1 joule restriction you'll never be able to squeeze much more range out. Consistant accuracy is the sweet spot, it'll serve you much better. Tight bores are more for accuracy then range.

cheers guys clears that right up...

The 1 joule limit is a good thing as it keeps it all fair. Imagine trying to play with a stock gun against people with 450fps. No thanks.

You's be out ranged by at least 100 feet :p

Tight bores IMO are dear for the improvements you get. I have a promy 6.03 in my CA Aug, improved a bit on very good.

Im thinkg of converting mine too...with a forend kit, carry handle /w scope, tightbore and drum mag.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 17,163 ✭✭✭✭Boston
