I have no idea but my passport got a bit wet and the blue ink has run in it slightly, on the top and 1/4 way down the page where my photo is, It hasnt damaged the passport itself just blue marks, Its still fully intact, I am going to america in a few weeks and dont want to be stuck at the airport, who could i ask to find out if it will be accepted?

Get it verified in your local Garda Station. The most important part is the serial number under the picture. You should be grand. Mine looked bad, still does :D only 1 year old

Happened to mine and got to America for two weeks. Has to be the recent passports, not the one with a pic just stuck in behind a laminated surface.

I got my Passport in 2003 so ya the picture is stuck behind the laminated surface? You can see everything the blue ink doesnt block anything, its just like a light blue ink stain.

Better be safe than sorry - get it checked - worst scenario you have to get a new one and they can do that in a day for you if you pay.

The new ones have two cool hologram things of your photo - very geeky.

While in the airport for Edinburgh, you might be able to get someone to come out of the US immigration place and let you know. You never know...maybe ring the embassy and ask them?

***edit Just noticed you said Shannon - I was thinking of Dublin - do they have the US immigration in Shannon too?
