Im a bit confused since we started getting Sky in our home last year that this situation is still the same.

why is it that despite Channel 4 now bieng on the Sky EPG in Ireland it is still FTV and not FTA? and then its the oppisite with UTV bieng FTA but not on the EPG at all and through 'other channels' instead?

It is because TV3 is mainly owned by ITV/UTV and TV3 has the contract with Sky to broadcast most of ITV/UTV programmes here. To avoid conflict of interest UTV is not on the Sky EPG. I wouldnt hold your breath either

In fairness, it costs a lot to be listed on Sky's EPG. Channel 4 is stuck in an encryption deal with Sky until next year. There's a *chance* things will change then.

I thought ITV sold its share of 3 to CanWest? (Or some other american company?)

I think TV3 is owned by Doughty Hanson at the moment.
