PS3 with old tv?

I've been thinking about getting myself a PS3, but unfortunately I've no HDtv, and I'd rather not shell out for one right now, particular if I'm already dropping €600+ on the PS3.

So I would be using my old crappy SDtv. First of all, is it worth it? Will the games look any good at all on it?

And second of all, due to a few PS2 games that give the option of running in 60Hz, I know 60Hz stuff will show up in flickery black and white. I seem to recall hearing the PS3 used 60Hz so can I use that TV at all?

    Thanks in advance.

Your tv should work fine with the PS3, and you will notice an improvement. I would start saving for an HD TV though because thats where you really see a difference.

it be like going from ps1 to ps2 they both use sd and the game looked way better the higher res make games look great but they will look good on sd was messing with ps3 option in the res part made it run all it's games on sd

Yeah, I'd definitely be aiming to upgrade to a bottom of the line HDtv when I can.

So the 50/60 Hz thing definitely isn't an issue?

I dont think so, a lot of people don't have HD tv's yet so it has to be able to work with older tv's. It comes with a scart cable so there shouldn't be any issues connecting it etc.
