Hey i've been searching through these forums looking for a solution to my torrent problem.I've tried port forwarding, static ip and followed the tutoritol on portforwarding.com and still i get crap download speeds usually under 10kb/s
I using Azerus on a MAC.
I have a Netopia 3347WG router with Eircom.

Any help to get these torrents going fast would be great.

    Cheers

How many seeds and leechers has the torrent.

10k seems about average for some torrents.

Is the light green or red in Azureus?

How many torrents are you running?
On eircom you're not on very good speeds to begin with - perhaps you're trying to do too much?

Try turning off the option to use the DHT network in your client.

its probably not whats causing your problems but theres no harm in trying a different client. I have heard that alot of people have problems with Azereus on Macs. Personally I'd reccomend transmission.

my brother has a 3347WG router also, and I couldn't get bitcomet setup fully on it (got only one green light) - the 2247WG works perfectly though

I have the same problem. I use Ares Galaxy and my torrents are all 1-5 kb/s. I tried uTorrent but it says my port forwarding is not set up properly, but it works fine for the normal Ares downloads...

One other very important step is to limit your upload speed. (to maybe 70% of your maximum upload, so maybe ~15kb/sec, depending on what broadband package you have)

If it's set to "unlimited", it can slow your downloads if your upload bandwidth is all being used.

Try turning off the option to use the DHT network in your client.
I'am in preferences and i can't find the option to turn that off.

The torrent i tried to download was seeded and i'am getting a red face.

I tried an app called BitTorrent and i got 90kb/s once but after that it would never go up farther than 5kb/s.

I think the netopia router is hopeless my little brother couldn't get his ds online with it either its a load of Sh1t.I might go buy a better router some day instead having to go through all this.

Thanks for the help though.Much appreciated.

a good torrent to test what your actually speeds are are the Linux distro torrents. Try the ubuntu torrent and it should tell you what your max connections are.

What is the seed to leech ratio of the torrent you are downloading?

i.e. 2 seeds and 1 leech is better than 1000 seeds and 2000 leechs

I have the same Eircom router and have had no issues with it. I usually max out my connection when downloading a well seeded torrent.

What level is your router firewall on? Are you running a software firewall that might be blocking connections?

What are your firewall settings at?.....Is the light green for NAT at bottom of the azureus window? or does it come up as red and firewalled?

people are clutching at straws: I sounds like a simple case of there being few seeders to take the file from.

More like people are responding to a badly phrased query. Not enough information was given to allow people help.

firewall could be a =n obvious problem. are you getting a yellow light?? if so go to your browser and type in the eircom default gateway (http://192.168.1.254/)
go to firewall and put setting to low (not off). then go to start menu on your computer and go to control panel. click on windows firewall and set off. if you still dont get a green light then i dont know what wrong

My firewall is set to "off" and the NAT thing is grey i have never seen it go green or red also the torrents i've tried downloading a torrents that has 1700 seeders to 1100 leechers.

EDIT: I've taken a screenshot so people can see first hand of what i'am getting.
