they are on dawson street. closer to stephen's green end.

basically you turn left at elvery's rugby store and it's down there on the left about 20 metres.

I got a litre for like €15 in Majorca. Wait til your mate goes to Spain.

It's nothing special beyond the initial novelty anyways.

    Weed? No...

There is thurjone in it, which is supposed to alter alcohol's effects somewhat, I haven't ever noticed this though.

Do some research before buying any - there are a huge number of varieties and the cheapo stuff you get in Andorra is a world apart from some of the better stuff you could get across the border in Spain.

There's also a lot of over-priced rubbish, so just do a bit of googling first before buying.
If you are just looking for something with 70% alcohol well then I suppose it doesn't matter that much.

come on now people... they hardly put weed in it. The use of Wormwood and the subsequent high amounts of the chemical Thujone caused Absinthe to have hallucinogenic properties... I'm pretty sure this thread came up not too long ago

    Not true.

For a start, Thujone isn't hallucinogenic. Not only that, but there is no evidence that there were high concentrations of it in historical distillations of absinthe. There certainly aren't nowadays (you're more likely to find higher levels of thujone in processed food containing sage).

In fact, there's no evidence at all beyond hearsay that there was anything unusual about absinthe compared to other alcoholic distillates.

The absinth in shops now has token amounts of wormwood in it. Wormwood can be smoked and is used by some as a filler in joints, rather than addictive tobacco.

Many writers took it, but many were already mad before drinking absinth!, also back then laudanum (opium) was popular but sort of overlooked. So many of these writers were messed up on the opium and 70-80% alcohol, not the trace amounts of thujone. Like the way people today might not consider tobacco or alcohol "real drugs", even though they are very powerful and dangerous relative to a lot of other recreational drugs.

Get a decent bottle of vodka instead. Or make your own absinth, wormwood is extremely easy to grow.
