I am trying to help my sister. She has an Olympus digital camera and can load pics on to her PC but she cannot send one from the olympus folder. If she tries it will attempt to send ALL the pics. Hope someone can give me advice for her. I know nothing about cameras. If more info is needed I will ask her. She is not very good with computers and am not sure she could post here herself

    Thanks

Is she using camera specific software? She's better off using windows if she's not computer literate - browse to the picture she wants to send, click on it and choose 'email this file' in the files and folders tasks bar on the left (assuming XP - not sure of other OS).

    Hi sineadw

Thanks for reply. Far as I know she has tried Windows and yes it is XP Pro. I told her to copy one pic into my pictures and then send that in email but she cannot do that. Any attempt to move one pic they all move. They are all in the olympus folder

Okay I have no idea what this Olympus folder is. Is it a folder on the PC or on the camera?

Basically when your sister plugs the camera into her PC it acts like a USB memory stick and Windows treats it as such. The Olympus software tries to help (not in a good way it seems!) by automatically copying them all to or from, I presume, the "Olympus Folder" or My Pictures. Now this is probably just a folder that you can browse to in Windows Explorer (i.e. My Computer>My Documents>...>Olympus if it is on the PC).

If the Olympus folder is on the camera just open My computer and connect the camera and it should just appear as a new icon (either a removable disk or as a camera device). Just double click and browse in and copy what you want as with any file on a USB stick.

Oh and there's probably a good reason she knows nothing about cameras/computers: RTFM! :D
