I'm not too sure if this is the place for this. If it's not my apologies mods and please move to the apropriate forum.
My sisters last camera broke and luckily enough she had insurance on it so she's in the market for a new one. She has to spend it in PC World as this is where she got the last camera and she's got around €280 to mess around with. So what would be the best camera to get for the money.
She's also looking to get insurance on it if it's not that expensive so does any one know the price of insurance. I think it's a percentage of the price of the camera or to do with price brackets. e.g 200-300 the insurance would be €20, 300-400 the insurance would be €30 or something like that.

    Cheers for any help lads.

The canon a630 is a great little camera for the money, checkout www.dpreview.com for reviews on cameras.

Yeah, I can't recommend the Canon Powershot series enough.I use the A620,I bought it for €310 in Germany last year so it should be about that price in Ireland now. It's not the smallest of digital cameras but fits your hand comfortably.Click on my sig and view one of the photos large if you want to see the quality.I'm very happy with it at the moment.Great camera.

Fuji f31fd is one of the best compact cameras for low light situations... they have recently introduced a new version, the f50fd.

Dpreview is the best place for info on cameras (they rated the f31fd very highly).

Pretty much...but fuji has the better low light option.

Nikon is second behind (in the dSLR market), Sony, Olympus, Pentax and Panasonic all have great offerings too.
