Does the CD tray open and close? Does the activity light come on?

Does it appear as a drive letter in "My Computer"?

When you turn the computer on, go into the BIOS (hit either Del or F2 during bootup, the exact key should be displayed on the screen momentarially when you turn on), and check if the BIOS is recognising the CD drive (see "Bootup sequence" or similar).

Can you give a exact error with regard to the "no inCD" you mentioned above?

    hi,
the cd door opens and closes, the light comes on when cd is in, i can hear the drive working, a little cd comes up on the mouse curser, and then notting doesnt auto start, the drive comes up in my computer and when i try to click on it notting happens,,

went into bios, and the cd drive is enabled there

that InCD error hasnt come up again!!

    thanks

Try disconnecting the power cable, and the ide cable fully. Then putting them back in again. Every now and again they can sometimes become loose.

If that fails try another cd drive from a friend/shop they are only about 20€ these days for a cheap on.

Also, you say its a cd drive. Are you by any chancxe trying to burn to a dvd, or open a dvd? As a standard cd-rom drive will nto allow you to do this.

    will try disconnecting it now,
its a cd/dvd drive, only around 2 months old too,

the warning came up again as i booted up,,

"Cannot connect to file system InCd service not running"

im thinking that my InCd software got deleted or something?
