    Yes very wishful thinking....

    A 768mb graphics costs min €500 and a decent monitor €250 :D

You can buy a good pre built gaming rig for €1000....

I would build it myself, but if you got say a decent dell pc (they are selling pc's cheaper than anyone else now) and add a very good low cost graphics card your laughing....

This is what I would buy for what you want to do....

This pc will play every game, will play hd video perfectly and is great value....

The X1950 pro at €135 is a steal..it will play any game you can throw it and is a €100 cheaper than the 8600gts,which it beats hands down...

Well I picked the third pc of that dell page and added the better cpu manualy, but the 4th one has that cpu and a 500gb hard drive and windows xp pro,so its probably the better deal at 90 euro more....

On your recommendations I picked out the below pc...

    PROCESSOR Intel® Core™ 2 Duo E6550 Processor (2.33GHz,1333MHz,4MB cache) edit
OPERATING SYSTEM Genuine Windows® XP Professional - English edit
HARDWARE SUPPORT 2 Year Business Hardware Support - Next Business Day edit
    MONITOR Dell™ 22" Black Wide Flat Panel (E228WFP) - UK/Irish edit
    MEMORY 2048MB 667MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM [2x1024] edit
HARD DRIVE 500GB (7200rpm) Serial ATA Hard Drive with 16MB DataBurst™ cache edit
GRAPHICS CARD 256MB ATI® Radeon® X1300 Pro PCI Express graphics card edit
OPTICAL DRIVE 16x DVD +/- RW Drive edit
KEYBOARD Dell™ Wireless Bluetooth Keyboard and Optical Mouse - UK/Irish (QWERTY) edit
MOUSE Mouse Included in Wireless Keyboard and Mouse option
FLOPPY/MEDIA DRIVES 13-in-1 Media Card Reader

    Total incl. VAT €862.23

Its the same as the one you picked, but has xp pro and a 500gb hard drive for an extra €50.....

Its touch and go if its better value or not...I like Xp pro so that swung it for me :P

Anyway take out the Ati x1300pro graphics card (you should get €30 on ebay for it) and replace it with the very good Ati x1950pro for €135 (€143 including shipping)

    http://www.dabs.ie/productview.aspx?Quicklinx=4D6N&CategorySelectedId=11137&PageMode=1&NavigationKey=11137,402380000

    So altogether your talking €1000

    For a

    2.33GHz Core 2 Duo E6550
    2gigs of ram
    512mb Ati X1950pro
    500gb Hd
    22" Monitor
    Windows Xp Pro
    13 in 1 Media Reader
    2 Year warranty

Its a great deal imo,pc is very upgradeable, has a few free pci slots, decent psu and sound pacakge.....

Its perfect for gaming and as a media centre and its cheap :P

With the rip off that is Ireland I dont think you could get a similar spec as that one for €1000....A 22" Monitor would set you back at least €320,then add graphics card, cpu, hard drive....time need to build it,hassle etc....
