PS3 noise ?

So have a PS3 a couple of weeks now after my 360 snuffed it.
I have to say it's much quieter then the 360 as people have said. I have it on my desk and notice for the 1st 10 mins after you turn it on it's almost silent with just a ticking from the fan, then the cooling system speeds up...not noisy though very noticeable. Though I suppose if you had it under a TV and were sitting back a few feet lke a lot of people are you would not notice. For me, I have it on a desk plugged into a Dell LCD. When gaming it's even noisier again. And I have noticed that after getting back into the dashboard or whatever it's called the system never returns to silence. The fans slow down but it's still noticeable. I would say a little noisier then an average Dell PC. Is this normal ?

Yes. Perfectly normal, do not worry. Unless your sitting right on top of it you normally wouldn't notice the sound that much or at all.
