    Folks,

I am a long standing sky customer for many years.

Last November i upgraded to the sky+ and in May this year i got bought an additional Sky+ box with the multiroom sub.

I am seriously thinking of quitting sky for personal reasons.

Can anyone out their please clarify for me what are my options as i think there has to be a min one year contract on the new boxes even though i paid for them in cash?

The easiest way out of a Sky contract is to tell them youre moving abroad (anywhere other than Ireland/UK)

    Penalties would surely apply?

I spoke to sky this morning and explained a good valid reason and they told me to send in the request in writing.

Not unless you cancel. If you phone Sky and say "I'm moving to Cyprus on August 28th. What size dish do I need in order to continue receiving Sky?", they will cancel your contract without penalty. You just have to act dumb and insist that you don't want to cancel but that your company is posting you abroad indefinitely.

Ah, but would they look for proof?
