    Great work!
What about some vignetting? Just to make it more personal - different.
I am very sorry that there is white wall behind him. It is a little bit disturbing, but only a littlebit.
And if you could clean the sleve in the colour one, it would be nice. Accidents happen to all of us.
But as I sad, I like it a lot. Nice work

    thanks guys ,

he liked the 3rd one too, and i've a cropped print beside me, get a frame tomorrow.
I agree Thonda , the colour one is nice too , but he likes b & w , the yellow on his sleeves , is just marks of his trade .

Personally I would prefer the first one if you could get rid of the door, without losing his hands. Three nice shots though Baz, the Panasonic can't be too bad.;)

    oh decisions decisions !!

if i went for the first one, i'd deffo leave the door , i know its free advertising, but thats his kind of local , and there pretty cool there, the pubs don't take kindly to him -- even at his ripe age of 76 .

For certain things the panasonic ain't bad , and i'm keepin it , its handy and light . but will be using the slr more & more .

Hmm ... I'd be tempted to re-work the B&W conversion though. His skin looks , I dunno, rubbery or something ? I suspect because his entire face is a very uniform matt grey color. I'd play around with the mix on the conversion to try and get it to stand out more and get more texture into it.

yeah it looks a bit funny up on flickr , but the print looks more real life .. and i've cropped of a bit of his forehead , which also looks better ... begining to think i'll go with this version, rather than the colour one .. the other b/w is out of the running

Can you get him in a less noisey background, and less posed?
I'm not saying he's "posing" for those shots, but something looks fake about them to me, it looks like he's waiting for the shutter.
Of the shots you've taken, number 1 for me though.

hmm for me portrait 1 (on flickr) with one slight change, there's a box on the right side of the frame, just clone it out, I know, I'm very fussy

oh ok, its looking like no. 1 , muineach the box on his right is his sketch pad !! very impotant .
Oreil - they were off the cuff shots , the background is his favorite haunts , so maybe if i go with 1 , it will set the scene of his fav. spot -- the only thing about no. 1 ,is i prefer it in colour !

small box beside what appears to be a light switch and fire alarm
I prefer the look on his face for that one, you can't tell if he's going to crack a joke or tell you to f' off

it's all adding to your karma, I tend to miss things like the light switch etc. on photo's that's why I tend to do a first pass on the photo, skip a day, then look again, that's when I tend to realise things like the light switch.
