I've only been playing online for a week or two so am completely new to the game really. This is a simple enough hand but I'd like to know how you're supposed to play this.

Early in a 20 person $6 SNG, 9 handed, all players in hand have about 1800, blinds 30/60.

UTG limps, it's folded around to me in CO with A 9 offsuit, I call, button/sb fold, BB checks. (pot is 210)

    Flop: 5 7 A rainbow. BB checks, UTG checks, I bet 180. (should I bet more/less here?)

    BB folds, UTG calls.

Turn: 7, UTG bets 200, I fold, ....right?

I would have raised pre flop after UTG limps and its folded to you in the cutoff.

And edit your post because you have the CO checking on the flop and you betting 180, you are the CO no? I think you mean UTG checks.

Edit: Any reads on said UTG player? Loose? Tight? etc?

Yeah sorry, meant UTG checks, editted.

No reads at all, he's only been involved in one hand (not with me) and folded the flop after calling a preflop raise. But this is only the 5th hand or so of the tourni, so it doesn't mean he's tight or anything.

I dont know, I think id call and re evaluate the river. You have position so if you call this bet, IF he does have a seven he may check to you trying to induce a bet, obv you'll check behind.

Yeah so Id raise pre-flop, and as played call and see what he does on the river.

    raise or fold pf

    flop is fine

i call the turn and fold river if he fires again.

if he checks the river i bet fold

when it's folded around to you in late position you should be raising with any hand you decide to play. it's much easier to win pots with marginal hands if you're the pre flop raiser.

the bet on the flop was fine although i would have bet slightly less. when he bets 200 on the turn there's 770 in the pot so it's a pretty easy call to make. sometimes people make these bets with open ended straight draw/weak top pair sort of hands to try and get a cheap river/showdown.

you shouldnt raise here though because you're hand is vulnerable and you dont want to play a huge pot with it because you probably wont get action off a worse hand.

I don't see any problem with the limp pre-flop. It's early and you have no reads, keep things small. The turn is tricky. I don't think a fold is that bad because he either has a 7 or he has you out-kicked or hes bluffing and it's very hard to tell this early. When in doubt...
Actually as Tom has said 200 into a 770 pot. It's not a bad call either.

raise pre flop, how did you go from being in the cut off to the cut off betting 200? i thought you were the cut off??? anyway, either raise or pass pre flop, flop bet is fine, turn i dont really understand because the positions seem to have changed a bit, did you bet from the cut off on the flop after UTG checks and then UTG leads at turn???

The post confuses me but it looks like you should call the turn

Jaysus, sorry, I really shouldn't post when just up. Yes, CO shouldn't have been mentioned after the introduction, that was all UTG indeed!
