Less of the large font please

I like the look of King in Waiting. A class horse that has run up against some serious opposition previously, the rest of the field hasnt got close to such a quality of a race so on that alone I think theres a fair chance with this one.

Hopefully today will be as good as Wednesday. Ground seems to be Good as far as I can make out. Rain is due to fall this evening but unless it is particularly heavy the ground conditions shouldn't change.

race 1 - 5.10 Will probably be won by the favourite Dream Champion 2/1. Is suited by Good & Firm ground & won in Listowel in June and was 3rd in Cork. Another I like is Tarkani at 12/1 - its good each way value and will take to the ground whether Good or yielding. Has been improving all year and could possibly get up at the finish.

Race 2 - 5.40 King in Waiting 5/2 John Oxx's and from a excellent line of winners. Will be favourite but I am quite confident of a win.

Race 3 - 6.15 This is a difficult one and I've picked two decent price horses both for each way / place only. Both are improving horses that will get the distance and will like the ground. 1. Strand Line 12/1 Has been going close this year with a recent 2nd, 3rd & 4th behind some decent types. and the second pick is Ballyhoctor 20/1 which could be great value if no rain falls as he like the ground on the firm side of good. So if rain falls any way heavily, discount him but otherwise it will represent goo place only value for up to 4 places.

Race 4 - 6.50 Tamimi's History 8/1. Kevin Prendegast yard is in excellent form and so is Tamimi's History, so I'll pick this over Consulate who probably needs a sounder surface. Do The Trick will be many people's fancy, but with a run on wednesday & a 5lb penalty it may be a bit much to ask for a win today.

Race 5 - 7.25 Difficult to call I can't choose between five horses in a ten runner event!!! - If the arm was twisted, i'd go for Common Charisma 2/1 if the rain has been falling & Hypnotic Vibes 3/1 if the rain stays away.

Race 6 - 7.55 Bucephalus 6/1 seems to be atrracting the money this morning - Has strong family line out of Montjeu & Flyleaf - related to Flying Brave (german 2000 guineas winner) & 5 other winners mainly in france. No great form in maidens, but looks the typoe to do well. Value copuld be had with Sara Cara 14/1 for each way. Will like the ground to be a bit softer, so again, if rain falls Sara Cara could be in the top 4.

Race 7 - 8.25 Another very difficult race to call. I could only narrow it down to six!!! But will plump for Willoughby Bay 9/2 who is dropped back to 7f and who just might get the nose in front at the end. The others are Casablanca Jewel - improving but will want the rain to fall, Really Ransom - dropping in class and has just one race behind her, Henry James, Singora Lady & Tellhimnow. - So basically avoid this race and head home early!

he's needs the rain to hold off according to the form - ground was still on sot side of good yesterday and just didn't suit. if rain falls delete him.

I know there is a lot of money for it, but I just got a call about Dark Arts (J Morgan) in the second last. Said there is huge word for it around the course. She's quite good at pulling off a gamble also.

    Good luck.

Hey Mike Dee, why not share your own analysis fused with Mcauls on here?

In from 12/1 this morning to 3/1 favourite. - That's a hell of a gamble and Bookies won't like if its pulled off. - Interesting gamble especially as it was completely ignored by punters on last three starts. Showed some promise when closing well to come 4th in Downroyal June 1st - this is her first handicap, so someone knows somthing. - Might be worth a small bite purely because of weight of money going on but the value may be gone at this stage.

Hi, first time posting to the Horse Racing forum, started watching today as I had the day off, had King in Waiting e/w, what would have merited a stewards inquiry there?

Doubtful! Best horse won the race

I was clutching at straws. Didn't have him each way..

Maybe thought Rekaab cut in front of our horse on the home stretch

    But maybe not... :(

The tipster John Looby had him on Marty Whelan this morning as well as a 12-1 E/W bet, (but then again John Looby's been hit and miss this week, like anyone else I suppose)

Gonna go for Consulate in the next one, e/w.

Anyone got any good reasons not to do that? :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 448 ✭✭jimmyboy

It's really between anyone in the next race. I backed Fortright the other day when he was an unlucky second and 2 of my favourite horses, Tamimi's History an King Rama are running aswell. Think I'll stick with King Rama though!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 932 ✭✭✭Yillan

Tamimi's got 4th or 5th. I thought he might have been pipped at the line.

First money back in the day if he wasn't

Far from being an expert, but going for Common Charisma. About 50% up for today, so I'm gonna stick with my gut feeling for the last few races. Then Coral Creek and Willoughby Bay in the last.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 932 ✭✭✭Yillan

I'm on common charisma as well.

What you got for the final two races?

I've fabled and Sara Cara in the next. Both Each way.

    I'm sitting the last out

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,501 ✭✭✭BrokenArrows

almost got my forecast but Hypnotic Vibes fell away in the last. that would have been a nice win.

Newbie here... could you explain what you mean there? Is it just that the overall quality of the horses is bad? I would have assumed if that was that case, it should be easier to pick a 'slightly better' horse. No?

It actually becomes more difficult as prize money is quite small on the final 2 days, so there isn't as much trying going on and as such the formbook is not the best guide - not that it was too great yesterday. I don't recognise any horses in 5 of the seven races on the card and only 3 / 4 in the other 2 races - but then again I mainly concentrate on flat racing.

Sat & Sun are more geared for the casual holdiday crowd rather than regular racegoers - still great days but more fun based.
