Has anyone else noticed that the quality of the calls from Skype to Skype is extremely poor?

I have a 2 meg connection (Usually runs at 1.8+) and my friend in Dublin has a 3 meg connection.

I constantly (for calls to him and others) see the little orange button that says there is a problem with the call quality.. to hang up and try again.

Video calls are a no hoper seen as they just dont go through clearly at all.

I cant figure it out at all.

Upload speeds are just as important as download speeds with Skype. How are your upload speeds?

My upload speeds vary from 180 to 210 kbps.. pretty much the same with the other people I use skype with.. (except the overseas people who have 10meg connections and 4 or 5 meg upload for less money than Im paying.. but thats a different complaint!).

I'd expect a better performance for that. It even works on dial-up! Any other apps hogging your bandwidth?

Well, unless they're downloading big files, don't think they could be blamed for poor audio quality.

Had a quick gape at Skype's site. Perhaps this could be the problem?

Interesting.. I must get them to check their firewall settings. That could be it. Cheers!
